UpTell Parents and Educators Page

What is UpTell?

UpTell is a digital storytelling site for teenagers. It's a safe and creative community for teens to freely express themselves. Users can create a story through whatever media format they choose, and they have control over who they share it with.

Why is it only for teenagers?

There are currently no spaces specifically for teenagers online. Teenagers need a creative outlet where they feel they can express themselves without having the need to censor themselves.

Is UpTell safe?

UpTell is a self-moderated community with specific community guidelines users must follow. Users can flag content they find inappropriate or offensive. If someone's content is flagged multiple times, their account will be deleted. We also log IP addresses and use a system that tracks 'trigger' words and content. We investigate this content, and if deemed necessary, notify the appropriate parties.

How can I use UpTell with my students/children?

It's best to present UpTell as an optional activity rather than a forced one. You can encourage students to check out UpTell, and they can decide if it's something they want to be involved with. UpTell provides students with an option to creatively express themselves through media. You can present it as an assignment option, and ask students to share the link to their story with you.

At this moment, UpTell is open only to teenagers. However, if there is enough teacher and parent interest, we are considering opening up a separate platform for school/class accounts.
